State-of-Art Police Cruiser result of new benchmarking
Town of Fyffe Cruisin’ in New Black & White
The Town of Fyffe has put a new twist on Police Cruisers for North Alabama and the Sand Mountain area with their purchase of a new State-of-the-Art Police Cruiser. The only thing traditional about the new vehicle is that it is a Black & White.
“We wanted the car to have some traditional value. And for it to be Black & White was just the way to retain immediate recognition for its real purpose. But as one can tell when they see it for the first time, it’s where tradition ends and modern technology takes over.” explained Mayor Larry Lingerfelt.
According to Mayor Lingerfelt the town wanted the car to be immediately recognized for what it is – a Police Car. But one that was different from the typical. “We felt it was time for Fyffe to be on the cutting-edge of Police Cruisers in the area. With the town being a small rural community, not often do we have the opportunity to be somewhat a trend-setter. But in this case we feel we are.” He said. “Also it was paid in full at time of purchase, which to the best of our knowledge is a first for our small rural town”.
According to Mayor Lingerfelt the town was able to afford the state-of-art vehicle by taking a business approach to managing the town’s finances. The mayor, who has a business background in his other life says the council has also accepted such an approach to managing the towns’ affairs. “It hasn’t been easy at times convincing folks the value of such methods when running a municipality. However, I feel we have had very positive results utilizing business methods with our local government.”
Mayor Lingerfelt related that he and the councils approach was to let the results speak for themselves. “Our town council is progressive in that we know we have to develop a vision and daily operational methods that will move us toward positive change for our small town. While change is not always popular with everyone, we feel we were elected for PURPOSE rather than POSITION. Our Purpose is to serve our community and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Practically everyone on the council holds a full-time job outside Fyffe and we have to utilize a team approach to accomplish our objectives. Our citizens deserve as good standard of living as anyone anywhere. That is our goal.” He explained.
